This is cultural and advisory work at the supervisory level at the Burnaby Art Gallery. An incumbent plans, schedules, implements, coordinates, evaluates and revises a variety of Fine Arts programs, develops and implements new programs within defined limits or upon approval of superior, plans, assigns, supervises and reviews the work of one or more subordinates engaged in program leadership tasks and hires, trains, and schedules and evaluates the work of a moderate sized group of part-time instructors. In addition, an incumbent establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts, assists a superior in preparation of preliminary operating budget estimates, controls a small budget and assists in or carries out special or seasonal programs. An incumbent also provides special expertise in a particular area of the arts to other employees and a superior. Considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised in performance of assigned duties within established guidelines. Unusual problems or policy matters are referred to a superior who reviews work performance in terms of attainment of desired objectives.
Qualifications include:
College or University graduation in Fine Arts preferably Museum or Curatorial Studies with a Fine Arts major; sound related experience as an instructor and some experience in program coordination preferably in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
This is an auxiliary position that works approximately 800 hours in a year. Extra hours may be added; grant dependant. The hours of work are variable depending on time of year / program requirements. The rate of pay is $25.98 per hour with 12% paid in lieu of benefits.
