FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Spend an Evening at the Morgue
Vancouver (October 6, 2010) - Looking for an authentic Halloween experience? Come and join Chris Mathieson, Executive Director of the Vancouver Police Museum, on Monday and Tuesday evenings in October for a unique ninety-minute storytelling experience inside the building that was Vancouver's City Morgue for almost fifty years.
Built in 1932 as the home of the city's Coroner's Service and the Vancouver Police Bureau of Science, the building at 240 E. Cordova Street has thousands of stories to tell. From assassination attempts to practical jokes, from celebrity visits to music videos, these evening experiences will bring to life the characters, exploits and chilling tales that make this one of Vancouver's spookiest buildings.
“The history of this building is incredible; from the 1950’s to 1980, an average of 1,100 cases a year passed though these doors,” says Mathieson. “This building is connected to almost every accident, homicide and suicide that happened in this city during that period. Unlike some of the Halloween experiences out there, we don’t need to make anything up or leave things to the imagination—the truth is eerie enough.”
As these events happen after regular museum hours, doors open promptly at 6:30PM. Because of the (occasionally) graphic nature of the material presented, adults (18+) only please.
Please note that tickets are non-refundable and we cannot move people to another session--please make sure to pick the appropriate session when you register. Also, ticket sales will only be available online at http://www.policemuseum.ca/Halloween.htm; no tickets will be available in-person at the museum or by phone.
During the Halloween season, the Vancouver Police Museum also plays host to the Haunted Vancouver Trolley Tours, a two-hour bus tour of Vancouver’s most infamous places.
