[BCMA] FW: Tinsmith and Other Tools

This collection of tin smithing tools has been offered to several museum.
The donor has asked me to post the offer on the listserve. Please contact

Would you have a use for the tin smith and other tools shown in the pictures
below? And for more boxes of tools that are not pictured?  

Many of the tools have been the property of my family since the 1910's and
were used by my grandfather, then my father, in a hardware store and
plumbing business.  Two of the machines have patent pending dates that are
in the 1860's. Our father kept the tools when the family-owned Squamish
Hardware store, in Squamish, B.C., was sold in 1967.  Our father died and
none of us use the tools and we are trying to find a use for them as
artifacts. 

A visit to Upper Canada Village, in Morrisburg Ontario, made us aware that
these tools are artifacts.  Tinsmiths played a role in every village;
setting up shop in the business area, often behind the hardware store, as in
our family. Tinsmiths made a wide variety of practical tin goods for
household and farm use. In such a shop, one could find such useful items as
pails, basins, scoops, candle sconces, oil lamps, and even tin bathtubs.
Even stove-pipes and eavestroughing were made locally in most rural
communities. Over time, the tinsmith's bright, light and relatively
inexpensive tin ware became a popular replacement for pewter, wood and
