Walk and Talk Tour by Ian Thom Senior VAG Curator of Historic Art on Ann Kipling Sunday, 2-4pm, July 24 at the BAG
(BURNABY, B.C.) The Burnaby Art Gallery is very pleased to host the upcoming walk and talk tour by renowned advocate for British Columbia artists Ian Thom. Ian is the Vancouver Art Gallery senior curator of historic art and an honoured Member of the Order of Canada. His understanding and knowledge of Ann Kipling and her work is extensive. In 1976 Ian curated Ann Kipling: Recent Landscapes at the Vancouver Art Gallery and several years later in 1980 curated Ann Kipling: Prints at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.
We are looking forward to seeing you and know you will enjoy this wonderful opportunity to hear this well respected art historian, writer and curator speak about one of BC's senior artists - Ann Kipling. Ian's talk will focus on the history of Ann, her move to Falkland, BC and her practices as a draftsman including the mediums she uses and the landscapes and spaces that inspire her work. There will be a short break for refreshments and an opportunity for a lively discussion during the presentation.
Our walk and talk lecture series are very popular gatherings for newly inspired art enthusiasts as well as long time collectors of fine art who wish to spend a lively afternoon immersed in the world of art. Everyone is welcome to attend and admission is by donation.
The Burnaby Art Gallery is located in picturesque Deer Lake Park in the historical Ceperley House. After the talk you can take a stroll around our beautifully landscaped historical garden. To find out more about the Burnaby Art Gallery go to burnabyartgallery.ca or call us at 604.297.4422.
