Summer Employment Opportunity (Young Canada Works)
Position: Curatorial Assistant
The Delta Museum and Archives Society is seeking a temporary (summer),
full-time (35 hours/week) Curatorial Assistant (CA).
Duties and Responsibilities
The CA will:
participate in the development of a temporary/outreach exhibit,
be responsible for the planning, research, development and installation of
an outreach exhibit,
be involved in day-to-day ongoing collections management tasks, such as
database management, conservation, accessions/deaccessions, digitization,
and the Third Floor Gallery relighting project.
participate in the Delta Museum and Archives major summer special event
on Canada Day.
Qualifications :
The CA candidate must fulfill all of the eligibility requirements of the
Young Canada Works program, including registration on the YCW web site.
Interest in the history of Canada, BC and the Lower Mainland is an asset.
Enrollment in a Museum Studies, Anthropology, Archaeology or History
program is an asset.
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to multi-task, work well independently and within a team
environment are required.
A valid BC drivers license is required (for exhibit transportation).
As this position may require dealing with the public, a criminal records
background check may be required.
Term of Employment:
May 22 to August 18, 2012; Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00am to 4:30pm (with
possible occasional Sunday or Monday).
Rate of pay: $13.72/hr + 4% in lieu of vacation.
This position is contingent on grant funding.
