[BCMA] Nanaimo Invites Artists: 3 Calls for Proposals for Public Art Projects

The City of Nanaimo has three opportunities for artists to participate in
public art projects: Outdoor Public Art 2013/14, Service & Resource Centre
Indoor Art, and Street Banner Design. For information on each project follow

Call to Artists - Outdoor Public Art 2013-2014
Since 2010, the City of Nanaimo and Nanaimo Art Gallery have been partners
in a dynamic and evolving public art program that enhances and animates our
city's parks. Each year, work by some of our region's premier artists is
installed on a temporary basis for the enjoyed of residents and visitors.
The parks essentially become outdoor art galleries and showcase works for a
limited period of time. In past years, works have been auctioned off after
the yearlong exhibition period. For 2013-14, changes have been made to the
program to allow for a wider range of artistic possibilities.

Responses are to be received at the City of Nanaimo's Purchasing Department
before 3:00 PM, (15:00 hrs) Pacific Time, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 by email
to purchasinginfo at nanaimo.ca. 

 

Service & Resource Centre Indoor Art

Artist(s)/teams are invited to participate in the first of a two-stage
selection process to design and create public artwork for the lobby of the
new Service & Resource Centre (the "SARC") located at 411 Dunsmuir Street,
Nanaimo, BC.

Street Banner Design

The City of Nanaimo invites amateur and professional artists and graphic
designers to enter a juried competition for the design of banners to be
installed in the Downtown area and major streets in the summer of 2013 and
2014.
