More/LIRE PLUS
Manitoba Museum presents 20th consecutive balanced operating budget
Winnipeg Free Press Share/Partager
The Manitoba Museum had made a little history of its own by marking 20 years of balanced budgets.
Museum officials presented the balanced operating budget to its membership and funders at an annual
general meeting. The operating budget was $5.5 million, and the museum concluded its fiscal year with a
surplus of $174,159. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS
Vancouver Police celebrates 100 years of women in the force
The Province Share/Partager
Mary Frazer is 86 years old and looks like somebody's grandmother. But Frazer was a Vancouver cop and
will probably always be one of the 'family', as she calls it. She joined the Vancouver Police Department in
1958, part way through a history of women in the department that began in 1912. The duties of those first
constables, Minnie Millar and Lurancy Harris, were far different than what Frazer did or the role filled 100
years later by the current complement of 343 female officers that make up 24 per cent of the department.

Guelph museum reconnects downtown memories
Guelph Mercury Share/Partager
The smell of warm cinnamon buns and sounds of classic rockabilly tunes will be filling Themuseum.

More/LIRE PLUS
Tod Ainslie's lens on 1812
The Globe and Mail Share/Partager
The Daguerreotype was not invented until the 1830s, but if chemical photography had been in use during
the War of 1812 perhaps the results would have looked like Tod Ainslie's images. The Royal Ontario
Museum has purchased a small selection and is displaying them until Feb. 24, 2013. More/LIRE PLUS
Windsor gallery's hidden treasures
Windsor Star Share/Partager
Catharine Mastin, director of the Art Gallery of Windsor, grasped the side of a movable steel wall, pulled it
out and there they were: two Group of Seven paintings, Wheatfield in Alberta by A.Y. Jackson and Autumn,
Madawaska by A.J. Casson. More/LIRE PLUS
