Join us on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 1:30 pm at the Kelowna Art Gallery
as we welcome Ian Thom, Senior Curator, Historical, of the Vancouver
Art Gallery and Curator of Bearing Witness for an intimate look at this
exhibition. Mr. Thom is an engaging speaker and he will share
fascinating stories about his career, and his involvement with the
VAG’s permanent collection with respect to Bearing Witness.

This event is FREE and open to the public.

Ian Thom is Senior Curator, Historical, at the Vancouver Art Gallery, a
position that he has held since 1988. Prior to assuming this position
he held senior curatorial positions at the McMichael Canadian Art
Collection and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.  Thom has organized
over 100 exhibitions on Canadian and international art and has
published extensively on Canadian art, including monographs of David
Milne, Emily Carr, Robert Davidson, Takao Tanabe, Gordon Smith, Arthur
Lismer, and Maxwell Bates among others.  Thom has lectured widely and
has consulted with many museums regarding their collections and
collecting policies.  Widely recognized as an authority on the work of
Emily Carr, Thom is a member of the Order of Canada.
