[BCMA] AABC - Managing Archival Photographs course

Hello everyone,
Once again the AABC is offering the course Managing Archival Photographs by distance education. Using the publication Photographs: Archival Care and Management (SAA, 2006), students will be introduced to the management of archival photographs in seven modules that cover

1. Photographic history, technology and processes
2. Appraisal
3. Accessioning and arrangement
4. Description
5. Preservation
6. Reference, copyright and public outreach
7. Digitization

Students will receive, by electronic mail, a self-study guide which includes instructions, supplementary reading where applicable, self-study questions, and projects. Self study questions and projects will be submitted to the instructor for evaluation. Upon completing all the projects within the allotted time students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

Students can expect to work about 10-12 hours per week on the coursework for the duration of the course. Students must purchase the textbook directly from the Society of American Archivists. The course is limited to 30 students.
