NEWS FROM CRAIGDARROCH CASTLE

Save the Dates

"Dracula: The Blood is the Life" returns!
Following the success of last year, Giggling Iguana Productions
returns to Craigdarroch Castle with a re-vamped (no pun intended)
version of Dracula.

Members receive a discount and the first opportunity to purchase
tickets now. The general public will be able to buy tickets after
Labour Day. Members may call 250-592-5323 for advance ticket sales.
Tickets are $26 general admission and $23 for Castle Members (prices
include HST.)

Showtimes are: October 23 and 24 at 8pm, October 25 and 26 at 7pm &
9pm, October 27 and 29 at 8pm, October 30 at 7pm & 9pm and October 31
8pm.

Christmas School Tours
Every year, Craigdarroch Castle welcomes over 1,000 students during
the month of December. From pre-school to grade 6, each tour is
guided by a maid, butler or governess. Children will learn about
Victorian Christmas traditions, make a holiday craft to take home,
and teachers are given the opportunity to include lesson plans which
tie directly into the BC Public School Curruriculum PLOs. Tours are
$5.00 per child and 1 free adult is permitted per 5 students.
Tours will run 6 times daily from Monday-Friday between December 2nd
and 20th. Reservations are now being accepted. Group size is
limited due to space constraints.

Christmas Programming
We don't yet have all the details of this year's programming, but we
don't want you to forget! We will be bringing back Jason Stevens'
one-man version of A Christmas Carol, the very same version that
Dickens took on the road in the 1800's.
Member's Night will be held on Thursday, December 5th, so be sure to
save that date!
Evenings will return with additional programming (TBD.)

Summer Sum-up

Scotiabank may have won the "corporate PR event of the summer" award
by staging a massive inflatable screen and portable projector on the
South Lawn. Approximately 1,000 people showed up with blankets and
lawn chairs in order to catch a FREE viewing of The Princess Bride.

The event was so much fun, we wish that we could do this more often!

Northwest Deuce Days
Victoria is known as a city that appreciates history and design.
It's no wonder then, that each summer the Northwest Deuce Days bring
hundreds and hundreds of vintage cars (and their owners) from all
over the Pacific Northwest and beyond. A "Deuce Coupe" refers to
the 1932 Ford Model B, which had a capacity for two passengers,
although the rally is open to all cars up to 1951. Every year, many
of the owners visit Craigdarroch Castle...a natural fit!

Weddings and Parties!
Finally, we had the most beautiful summer for private events. In the
same week, we hosted a wedding for 100 people and our staff and
volunteer BBQ. It is always lovely to see the lawn being used as it
was in the Dunsmuir's time: specifically for parties! The 28-acre
estate offered woodland paths to stroll, but the lawn was undoubtedly
intended for tea (or cocktails) and certainly for weddings!

New Media Images:

Photographer Andrew Annuar -
http://cts.vresp.com/c/?CraigdarrochCastle/d1d6871a12/bb7542f092/7cd9e61b27 has been documenting both the exterior and the rooms of Craigdarroch
Castle.

The images will be used for postcards, a new book, and for media
coverage.

We are very excited to have some modern and up-to-date photography to
add to our collection.
