Hop on the Heritage Bus for a tour of Richmond's temples of faith

Richmond, BC- Experience a sampling of the rich diversity of spiritual
and cultural traditions within the community of Richmond. A Heritage Bus
trip is offered to participants who are interested in deepening their
understanding of local religious temples and spiritual places of
worship. Participants will get the opportunity to exclusively tour four
local places of worship and receive an introduction to the community's
history and faith. This day-long exclusive bus trip is on Saturday,
February 23 from 10:15 a.m. until 4:15 p.m.

The trip will be narrated by an experienced guide, and includes a
memorable visit to St. Alban Anglican Church, Nanaksar Gurdwara Gursikh
Temple, Thrangu Monastery and Ling Yen Mountain Temple. At each stop,
participants will experience a private tour; a glimpse of the religion's
traditions, faith, and practices; and an overview of its history in
Richmond. There will also be a representative at each location to answer
any questions about their faith and practices. Each stop will be a
minimum of 40 minutes to one hour.

These places of worship have long been a part of the diverse cultural
fabric of Richmond and still play an important role in the lives of our
citizens.

The Anglican Church of St. Alban has been a part of Richmond since 1893.
It is home to the Richmond Peace Labyrinth, which was built in 2008 as
an interfaith project and is a cobblestone replica of an ancient
11-circuit labyrinth located at the Chartres Cathedral in France.

Since opening in 1984, continuous prayers have been held in the Nanaksar
Gursikh Temple. This intricately designed building invites people of all
ages, introducing the public to how the Sikh community enhances
Richmond.

The Thrangu Monastery is Canada's first Tibetan-style Buddhist
monastery, and has been part of Richmond since 2010. The architecture
and design of this monastery is based upon the ancient monasteries at
Nalanda and Odantapuri in India, both of which were home to many of the
greatest masters of Indian Buddhism.

Ling Yen Mountain Temple is situated on five acres of land and was
established in 1999. This is an overseas branch of Taiwan Ling Yen
Mountain Temple, an orthodox Buddhist monastery following the traditions
of Pure Land Buddhism.

All ages are welcome, and a vegetarian lunch, provided by Nanaksar
Gurdwara Gursikh Temple, is included. Also, participants are encouraged
to visit Richmond Museum's Highway to Heaven: Richmond's Multi-faith
Community exhibit when time permits after the bus tour. The cost of the
tour is $40 per person.
