SKIN & BONE - *Salty Sailor Tales *offers a rare opportunity to see
scrimshaw not included in the current Tattoos & Scrimshaw exhibit and
discuss the idea of erotic imagery and taboo concepts in both art forms.
*SPECIAL GUEST: SAILOR JERRY RUM

*About the Exhibit
*Since opening in March, TATTOOS & SCRIMSHAW - the Art of the Sailor has
caught the attention of local and international media. Erotic scrimshaw,
taboo tattoos, and the history and influence of sailor art on western
culture have sparked conversations around superstition, tradition, and
"What constitutes as art" across the web and international TV.
The exhibit explores the history and craftsmanship behind these two iconic
nautically influenced pastimes, and SKIN & BONE - *Salty Sailor Tales *allows
the museum to look even deeper in these themes.
> *"Thanks to the Vancouver Maritime Museum, youngsters are going to head
> to the wharves for porn instead of the internet."* - Stephen Colbert
