The exhibit will feature not only the story of the doomed WWII Convoy PQ-17 but will also tell personal stories of merchant sailors. “Convoy PQ-17: The Art of History” is presented as part of the Victoria and the Sea project in partnership with the Victoria Symphony.
Mark your calendars! To celebrate the exhibit and to thank you, our members for your incredible support this year, a members evening will be held on November 7 from 5 to 8pm. If you are interested in seeing the Requiem live, it will performed by the Victoria Symphony November 10.

Dorothy Restoration
A documentary team producing a one-hour film "Between Wood and Water" about Dorothy, Canada's oldest sailboat and one of the Maritime Museum's most treasured floating artifacts, has just launched an online social fundraiser to support the production. Doroth y has been the property of the Maritime since 1995 and has been out of the public view for almost a decade. To continue shooting Dorothy's restoration on Gabriola island by shipwright Tony Grove this winter and fall, and the historic vessel's eventual return to her home waters in 2014, the filmmakers need to raise $10,000. The documentary is slated for release in February 2015.
