Position: Development Coordinator

Salary: Pay Grade 22 ($24.57 - $28.91)

Reports to: Director of Development

Posting Date: March 9, 2016

Closing Date: March 22, 2016



Nature of Position: The Development Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the annual campaign, membership, prospect research, planned giving and special events. The position will also be responsible for general administration in the Development Office as well as managing - the software database.



Duties and Responsibilities

* Coordinates the development and delivery of MOV's annual campaign(s) in cooperation with the Director of Development including identifying targets, writing key messages, coordinating mailouts, evaluating success and ongoing donor stewardship.

* Conduct high quality detailed biographical, corporate, individual research for identifying prospects and donors, contributing data and analysis to aid in developing strategies, briefings and research profiles.

* Participates in setting annual targets for the growth of membership and donors under $1,000 and then meets those targets, tracking Key Performance Indicators quarterly.

* Contributes to the development and implementation of donor recognition policies and practices and ensures that work product meets these standards.

* Maintains accurate donor files with professional confidentiality, including data entry and management of donor information in Donor Perfect or other CRM databases, including general database maintenance, tax receipting and donor communications.

* Coordinates the membership program, including reviewing benefits, developing promotional materials with marketing, ensuring member satisfaction, communicating with members and organizing membership events, including the Annual General Meeting.

* Develops and coordinates donor recognition, stewardship and cultivation events and activities as part of a larger, cross-departmental team.

* Prepares grants, sponsorship packages and other solicitations as required.

* Coordinates and supervises fund development volunteers in the delivery of events and other related fundraising activities.

* Develop necessary monitoring and tracking processes to ensure milestones and follow-up steps are achieved.

* Undertakes administrative tasks as required.



Required Qualification, Knowledge, Education and Skills

* Post-Secondary degree or Diploma in a related field.

* Exceptional written communication skills.

* Detail oriented and meticulous in maintaining accurate records.

* Knowledge of fundraising principles and techniques.

* Ability to work independently or as a team.

* Ability to organize people and activities and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, members, donors, community groups, and other key contacts.

* Highly organized and able to manage time to achieve results.

* High degree of independence and initiative.

* Proficient computer literacy in a Microsoft environment, including proficiency with CRM databases (like Raisers Edge or Donor Perfect), experience using online databases and other sources to locate financial land philanthropic information.

* Some event planning experience an asset.

* The ability to lift and carry boxes and supplies up to 30 lbs. at a time.

* Membership in the Association of Fundraising Professionals preferred.

* Experience on a not-for-profit board or committee an asset.



Required Experience

* A minimum of 2 years of fundraising experience in a non-profit environment, preferably cultural.



Hours: 35 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Note: This position falls under the jurisdiction of CUPE local 15.
