ARCHIVES SPECIALIST
Regular Part Time Position
(25 hours/week)
 
Saanich is seeking an experienced Archives Specialist to join our
Archives team. The Archives Specialist collects, accessions, arranges,
stores and preserves a wide variety of historical materials and records;
maintains and provides access to archival resources, conducts research,
and provides written and verbal responses to reference questions by
archival clients; and designs and delivers public outreach programmes
and exhibits on local history.  This position will focus on the Archives’
Reference Room area, with a secondary responsibility for the Public
Programming area. Saanich Archives is located inside the Saanich
Centennial Library.
 
Requirements include a Bachelor of Arts degree in a related field; two
years directly related experience in an archives, library, or museum,
including experience with the Rules of Archival Description or
International Standard Archival Description, care and handling of
archival records, and research methods and resources; experience with
personal computers and computer-based applications including Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, scanning and imaging software.  Candidates with an
equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
 This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $31.94 per hour
