*“RECONCILIATION” Call For Submissions from Indigenous Artists*
*Two Rivers Gallery, Prince George BC  *

*DEADLINE: 4pm, on Sunday, 24 February, 2019*



94 calls for action resulted from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s
enquiry into the policies and operations of Canadian residential schools,
the experiences of children sent to them and the resulting impact. More
than 6200 statements were recorded from residential school survivors,
describing the nightmare lived by so many Indigenous people. Two Rivers
Gallery acknowledges this terrible chapter in the history of First
Nations.  With an open mind and an open heart it wishes to explore the
process of healing and drawing-together at the core of the reconciliation
process. Two Rivers Gallery is seeking Indigenous perspectives on this
process and invites Indigenous artists living in BC working in any media to
respond to this call and propose three to six artworks exploring
reconciliation.



Please complete this form and send it along with some information about
yourself and the work you do, and images of up to six artworks. The Gallery
will notify those whose work is selected for exhibition. Artists whose work
is selected will receive an exhibition fee.



This exhibition will be co-curated by Two Rivers Gallery Curator, George
Harris, and Independent Indigenous Curator Rose Spahan. Working with
Indigenous People through the arts we will embed ritual within our process
to create social change.  We will effectively do our part in participating
in ritual (smudging, drum circle, prayer and food offerings) as a way of
opening the path to a positive cultural exchange.


*Guidelines*


   - Indigenous artists can submit images for up to six *COMPLETED *works.
   - All Artwork must have been produced within the last three years.
   - If applying by post, please clearly mark the package as follows: *Attn:
   Meghan Hunter-Gauthier - “RECONCILIATION”*. If you would like your
   submission returned, please include a self-addressed envelope stamped with
   sufficient postage.

**Packages that do not include the following may be deemed incomplete and
disqualified**


   - A completed and signed application form. Please be sure to indicate
   the value of each work for insurance purposes:

   - A current resumé, curriculum vitae or a short statement about yourself.
   - A short description of each artwork submitted (2 – 3 sentences).
   - Good quality photographs or high-resolution JPG files (min. 1 MB) of
   completed artwork. Please ensure your images accurately represent your
   artwork. Clearly label both digital and/or print images of artwork with:
   artist's name, title of work, medium, size and date. For digital images of
   artwork, please title each file with a number, your last name, and the year
   and title of your work (for example: 01smith2014divinecreation.jpg). *Use
   letters and numbers only.*
   - An image list including titles, date of production, medium and size.
   - A self-addressed envelope stamped with sufficient return postage.
   Stamps only please.

All submissions must be received by Two Rivers Gallery no later than *4pm,
on Sunday, 24 February 2019*. *Original** art will not be accepted at this
point*.  Please ensure your images accurately represent your finished
artwork. Exhibition date is 18 July to 29 September 2019. Subject to change.
