With Conference 2020 going virtual this year, the AMA is also sharing
exclusive articles from contributors we couldn’t fit into the formal
program.

*Sustainability through Communities of Practice*
Tara Beck and Isabella Borrelli’s piece explores the potential for
different communities of practice to support professional belonging,
purpose, and creativity, especially given the changing nature of museums
over the last six months. You'll read about the importance of these
peer-to-peer learning and support groups in breaking down institutional and
professional silos and combatting the deep-rooted systemic issues in the
museum sector.

*Addressing Large-Scale Challenges*
The current crisis has highlighted the need for cultural institutions to be
flexible, resilient, and creative in our approaches to change. But what
happens when the changes are coming at us so quickly and the scope of them
seems so overwhelming that they become paralyzing? In this two-part post,
Kristen Cousineau and Christine Moreland guide readers through a model
workshop of the Design Thinking process. First, you'll *Define *the problem
your museum faces (it may be different than you think!) and next *Ideate *the
solutions that fit your own unique situation, no matter the size, type, or
circumstances of your museum.
