Hello!
My name is Erica Olmstead and I am a student from the Department of Curriculum & Pedagogy at the University of British Colombia completing my Master of Museum Education. I am writing to invite you to participate in my research study on the experiences of educators who have created partnerships with teachers in order to provide learning opportunities where students are engaged with an informal learning site (eg. museums, art galleries, science centres, parks, etc.) for longer-term learning experiences, such as week-long field trips, multiple visits throughout the year, and more. I hope my research will tell a rich narrative of the educators who have created these partnerships and add to the literature both regarding educators’ experiences and stories as well as informal site and school partnerships.
Involvement in this study will consist of an interview of about 1 hour, a review of the transcripts (approximately 30 minutes), and a second 30-minute interview may be scheduled to allow for any follow-up questions by either the participant or the co-investigator which will all take place using the web-conferencing software, Zoom. It may also include sharing any documents that you think will highlight your experience. The interview will take place at a mutually agreed upon time in the winter of 2021.
More information can be found on the attached poster.
Please contact me if you are interested or have any questions at erica.olmstead at alumni.ubc.ca<mailto:erica.olmstead at alumni.ubc.ca>.
The principal investigator for this study is Dr. David Anderson, david.anderson at ubc.ca<mailto:david.anderson at ubc.ca>.
Thank you,
Erica Olmstead
